Otters Elementary PTO Meeting February 8^th, 2011

Present: Angela Fiedler, Michele Patterson, Kathy Bjork, Mike Evavold, Jane Holms, Loni Jacobson, Jade Goulet and guest Donna Hauge from Celebrating Home

Meeting called to order – 6:35 p.m. – President Angela Fiedler

Approve the Agenda: add item V. e. Request from Bev Rognes PE– Jade motioned to approve, Michelle 2^nd motion. Motion carried with addition.

Approve January 2010 Minutes  Michelle motioned for a revised statement in 01-11-2011 minutes to state in item #7, 1^st paragraph, “The Cleveland playground was re-surfaced with green matting the summer of 2009, with the other 2 schools getting the same surface in future summers.– Michelle made a motion to approve, Jade 2^nd motion. Motion carried with this amendment.

Updates 

Spring Fundraiser Ideas: Celebrating Home, Donna Hauge gave a short presentation on a spring fundraising option with her. We viewed product catalogs and seen items available. PTO discussed the option of spring fundraisers. We will choose from Celebrating Home or Pampered Chef, Ashlie Schulz will be our contact for information on this 2^nd fundraiser. After getting details of availability and earning potential percentages, Angela will send out an e-mail with the details for each for a vote.

Feb. Treat Day – Wed 16^th, Valentine’s Theme, lead reps will organize people to bring items to share at our schools.

Fitness Event – Angela talked more about this event. It was discussed that April would be a better choice for the event. There was discussion on when the event should be: on a week night or Saturday. The group talked about having it on a Saturday morning 9am-12n. Angela updated the group that there is interest in the community to support our efforts. New Beginnings, YMCA, Curves, Forward Fergus Falls, and Tae Kwon Do have all expressed interest in helping with the event.

Playground equipment – some discussion was had about PTO’s plan to help better the Adams’ playground by adding equipment the summer of 2012. 

Pizza Night Jan 31^st  no numbers where reported yet for this event, as contact not at meeting.

New Business  

Teacher Pay Outs March 1^st – Angela will be in contact with Julie B. at administrations for spring payouts.

Adams book fair Family Night April 14^th (set up 12^th Wed 13^th Preview Day)

Cleveland Pizza Night Date, March – item tabled, no discussion.

Bev Rogness submitted a requested of funds to purchase new equipment to add to the obstacle course that benefits all three schools. She is asking for 2 sets of a crawl though system that they currently use cardboard boxes for. The would be around $500. Michelle motioned to approve and Jade 2^nd the motion. Motion carried. 

School Report

Principal – Mr. Colbeck was unable to attend, no update.

Teachers – shared about their Prairie adventures.
