We want to give our community members every opportunity to stay up-do-date with the Marching Band as we head to Washington, DC to march in the Presidential Inauguration Parade. (News article here.)
We will utilize a number of free web-based services to share the experience with our supporters back in Fergus Falls, and around the world. Below is a description of each service, along with links to our specific content.

When the marching band leaves for Washington, DC on January 16th to
march in the Inauguration Day parade, you have the unique opportunity
to join us virtually by following our Twitter feed.
I will be traveling with the band, and will be microblogging using the
free Twitter service. Anytime something eventful happens, even if it's
just a restroom break, I'll update the Twitter feed, complete with
pictures and maps of our current location. It will be a fun way to use
technology to keep the community back home up-to-date on an
hour-by-hour, or minute-by-minute basis!
You don't need a Twitter acount to follow us: just visit http://www.twitter.com/ffband to see what we're up to. We're even updating the feed as we rehearse and prepare for our trip!

Flickr.com is a photo sharing site. As we travel, we will occasionally upload images instantly from our phones. Camera images will also be uploaded, hopefully each evening if time allows.
Many photos will be "geotagged" with GPS coordinate information. When viewing these images, you can click the Map link on the right side of the page to see where the photo was taken.
Click the flickr logo to the left to view our sets of images.

Using the GPS functionality of my phone, FirePin will periodically mark our location on a Google map. You'll be able to see waypoints that represent places we've been. You'll also see our current location.
You can click a pin on the map to see what day and time we were at that location. Zoom the map in to see more detail, or out to see more waypoints.
Click the FirePin logo to the left to see where we're at!

Gate City Bank has donated $5000 to the Fergus Falls Marching Band to help defray a portion of the expenses for the band’s trip to Washington, DC to march in the Inauguration Parade on January 20, 2009.
Lance Wolf, Gate City Bank Executive Vice President and Director of Retail Banking, presented the $5000 check on December 16 to Fergus Falls High School Marching Band Directors Jim Iverson, Denise Wiese, and Scott Kummrow, as well as Fergus Falls Superintendent of Schools Jerry Ness.
“It is part of our mission to give back to local organizations in communities where we have bank locations,” said Wolf. “We feel strongly that the marching band merits financial support for this once-in-a-lifetime trip.” Gate City Bank’s Fergus Falls Office is scheduled to open in May 2009.

Pictured in the check presentation photo are (L to R) Jim Iverson, Denise Wiese, Lance Wolf, Scott Kummrow, and Jerry Ness.
A $1 billion mutual community bank, Gate City Bank has been providing banking services for 85 years. With the addition of offices in Fergus Falls and Alexandria in spring of 2009, Gate City Bank will have 30 convenient locations across North Dakota and Minnesota, and will employ more than 375 people.
