The Fergus Falls Envirothon team finished 2nd overall in the oral presentation round at the Regional Envirothon held at the PWLC. This year's scenario was on "Managed Grazing Systems in Minnesota." The team finished 4th overall in the competition.

A HUGE thank you to Schmitt Music for sponsoring guest artist Michael B. Nelson for our All School Jazz Concert on April 27th. Michael spent a day teaching master classes and then performed with Jazz 1 in the concert.
The High School Speech Team, AKA “Otter Orators” wrapped up their 2012-13 season last week attending the Central Lakes Conference Section Meet in Little Falls on Friday, April 12th. Our Section meet saw 8 out of our 10 entries advance into semi-finals. These included:

Nick Plaza, Senior, and Gabe Albers (11th grade) Discussion
Jenny Klawitter (10th grade)/Emma Newton (10th) Duo Interpretation
Morgan Hoffman/Morgan Leslie (8th) Duo Interpretation
Cassandra Eerdmans (11th) Poetry
Katelyn Petersen (11th) Prose
On top of this, Katie Vosberg went on into finals placing 6th overall!
Also competing at Sections were 8th graders Halah Jost-Mahunik and Dante Fornizy.
The High School Speech Team held their end of the season banquet on Monday, April 8th. The following awards were presented:

Fergus Falls High School students recently showed Art pieces created in the last few months. These works along with 20 other FFHS student pieces were displayed in the Regional High School Show at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. These students' works were created under elective Art courses taught by Peder Butenhoff.
Anne Childs constructed her ceramic sculpture of a "Celebration Dance" in Pottery and received the "Peoples Choice Award". Claire Ripley's watercolor called "Autumn Watercolor" was composed in Drawing and Painting course and received a first place prize, and Michael Aasness constructed his "Grizzley" on an armature with wax in Rare Mediums course. It earned him second place overall.
These works and many more will be on display at the Blondeau Fine Arts Festival May 20th from 5-9pm at the Kennedy Secondary School.
