During the winter weather season, conditions occasionally cause us to delay the start of school, or to send students home early ahead of inclement weather.
If you’d like to be alerted to school closings or delays via text message, please subscribe to our Twitter weather alerts.
(Please note that this is just one of the many ways we alert the public about school closings and delays, and should not be relied upon as your sole source of information.)
Receiving Text Alerts
We are posting school closures, delays, and other alerts through our @544alerts Twitter account.
You can receive text messages nearly instantly from this Twitter account. You do not need a Twitter account of your own to receive these texts.
To receive alerts via text:
- Compose a text message addressed to 40404 – the message you send to subscribe is follow 544alerts
- You will receive a confirmation text telling you’ve successfully subscribed to the text alert system.
- If you’re not a Twitter user, you will receive info on how to “sign up and join the conversation”. You can ignore this.
As messages are sent to the @544alerts twitter page, you will automatically receive them as text messages on your phone.
Please note that receiving texts may cost you money if you do not subscribe to a texting plan.
If you’d like to stop receiving our tweets via text, send unfollow 544alerts to 40404
Please note that this is just one of the many ways we alert the public about school closings and delays, and should not be relied upon as your sole source of information. Internet traffic and other factors can often delay text message transmissions. We also announce school closings and delays on our website (www.isd544.org), on local radio, and via Fargo television stations.
