Supt. Ness: Spring jazz concert held

Spring Jazz Concert – Blues for Adeline

jazzLast Friday, the Spring Jazz Concert was a magical night for all those in attendance.  The Lakes Area Jazz group was an amazing start to the evening followed by the Middle School and Jazz I and II performances.

The majority of songs performed that evening were written by the University of Minnesota Associate Professor and Director of Jazz Studies, Dean Sorenson.  Mr. Sorenson, who is a wonderful composer and player, also performed with the students.

The highlight of the evening was the premiere of “Blues for Adeline.” This piece was written by Mr. Sorenson in honor of Lee Leverson and the love of his life, wife Adeline.  Mr. Leverson started the jazz program (stage band) 50 years ago. Congratulations to the music program on another outstanding and memorable concert!

Yeehaw! McKinley’s Reading Rodeo

Tuesday night the McKinley gym was full of kindergarten cowboys and cowgirls showing off their math and reading skills to moms and dads at the Reading Rodeo and Mutton-Busting Math Night. Cowpokes of all ages had a great time playing games, reading, and visiting!

Note: For parents, students, and staff regarding the class of 2016!

On behalf of the Activities Department,
We are looking for additional video footage for the up-coming Senior Recognition Night, which will be Monday, May 2nd.
If you have any footage that pertains to the Class of 2016, (and the categories below) please email it to Mindy Christianson or Andrew Millard in digital form or in a video clip form.  There will not be enough time to use physical pictures.
1.  Kindergarten
2.  Elementary
3.  Middle School
4.  High School

Kindergarten teachers/Elementary Staff:  If you have anything as far as videos of the class you taught when the seniors were with you, please send to Mindy or Andrew.  Would any of you who taught them 13 years ago be willing to do a video spot talking about them?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!
